Gadget Friday: Pie Crust Shield

Ever had your pie crust burn to a crisp, ruining the look of your pie? With this handy tool, you can keep the rim of your pie a beautiful golden brown … without having to fight with strips of aluminum foil!

(Note: Be sure to check out our recipe for Tea & Vinegar Pie Crust!)

Here’s what we recommend:

Sur La Table Pie Crust Shield

This metal pie shield protects crust from browning too quickly in the oven. Carefully remove hot shield approximately 10 minutes before the end of baking time to allow the crust edge to brown slightly. Fits 9″-10″ pies.

Or if you prefer, here’s a silicone option that’s adjustable (also available at Sur La Table).
